Adding new passions…
MOST of my entry are primarily at looking for fault and on politics. After being bombarded by news and adverts from T.V. (mostly from CNN & Discovery), I’ve decided to add Environment, Cancer and AIDS, Children and the next generation, business ideas and unity to the list of topics. ;-P
Our environment is dying all around us. Once Mother Nature comes at us, no God can save us. Not because He is weak, but because we asked demanded for it. We’re polluting our own planet, killing the flora and fauna which we were sent to protect. Sitting down and keeping mum wont be enough. Since I do have a blog, speaking out is the least I could do.
CANCER is becoming the leading killer disease, rapidly overtaking AIDS. It’s not impossible that one day, everyone will encounter cancer one way or another. Our lifestyle, our environment and other factors come into play. AIDS has been plaguing us as well. We need to be aware of the danger it pose. Discriminating and insulting AIDS patient is very easy, but what if that patient is either ourselves or someone close to us. Will we discriminate also? Awareness over these two diseases is vital. It surpasses religion on one simple ground: religion demands that we take care of our fellow human being, now the whole human race it at stake.
BUSINESS ideas to develop the State of Sarawak. I’ve been focusing on the weakness that we all have: heavy reliance on the governments. It’s time I contribute some ideas as to develop the state. I may not have the resources but others may. We’re trying to develop our state, who else can do that is not our own people. Capitalism is alive in Sarawak and Malaysia. Time to shift the burden from the Government to the private sector and private citizens. Let the government deal with necessary projects and programmes for the betterment of our community, not dictating every other thing that the people should do. Most importantly, it’s time the people hold the government accountable. As on V for Vendetta, the people shouldn’t be afraid of the government; instead, the government should be afraid of the people.
Although I am passionate about national Sarawak Pride, there’s another predicament which must be faced and address: UNITY. Ideas should be presented to help united the people of Malaysia to one level, one society where everyone benefits, not just one segment of society. *I’m starting to sound like a socialist Commie! God forbid* Ideas should be thought of on achieving that goal, set out 37 years ago. United we stand, divided we fall.
Last but not least, as a summary of all the above, CHILDREN AND THE NEXT GENERATION. Many of our leaders today have ignored the next generation. Now they face the backlash of their policies of dictating how one should think. I see the Barisan Nasional’s days as numbered. Current leaders and the higher echelons, their days in office are like a lame duck. Soon enough, the next generation will take over. The problem which they will inherit are worse compared to that that the current leaders had to face. I don’t intend to spread dissent - that can be done by individual thought - but to speak for the voice of tomorrow.
These are the issues which I see is understated, under-emphasized and under-appreciated. Ironically, these are among issues that matters the most.
