After 4 Years, I’m Back?!
After I finished my SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Education) in 2003, I never set foot in Kuching - until today. Yeah, I’ve transited at the airport during its construction once but I did not leave the departure hall. So you can say I was surprised with what I saw here this morning. Flew in from Miri with my Mom this morning. Using AirAsia, we departed just before 8.35 a.m.. and arrived in Kuching ten minutes ahead of schedule. My cousin, Zaki and our Uncles Arthur and David were there to pick us up and we proceeded to another uncle’s place.
We went to an open house within an hour after we landed. Enough time to change my shirt to a more proper one. The open house was held at King Centre, in the lot below my Uncles’ future office. It was held by a relative (I think. We’ve got a lot) in their party planning business (the BlueberryBox). The food was delicious but thanks to Razie, who a few minutes before told me the results for the last semester were out, I lost any possible appetite and concentration.
4 Hours and some minutes later…
When we got back to my uncle’s place, I took my time in checking my results. First thing, the PC screen was sheet white. I could barely see the cursor. Something wrong with the monitor itself, I assume. And then we had to ask for the Dial-Up password and username since we ended up using my (faulty) laptop. And the results were as the follows:-

Yup, I failed my Land Law I. Man, I thought I had it in my hand. A little background information on the subject: Land Law I is the first part of Land Law. It is taken by 3rd Semester full time students and is a prerequisite to Land Law II.We were - in this case, I will be - studying about the Land Law in Malaysia based on the National Land Code 1965 used in West Malaysia. The other subject which I “failed” is my Public Speaking II, one of the few co-curricular subjects which we had to take for the 3rd semester. I asked around to know what “YY” was. As I was told: tidak menduduki peperiksaan tanpa kebenaran or failed to sit for the exam without permission. For a Zero Credit Hour subject, I couldn’t care less. Obviously I can’t fail public speaking itself (I had a history :-p), so the next best thing was to put a YY.
New House, New Life
At 2.50 p.m., we left the house for my two uncle’s new crib in Kuching to meet the real estate broker. After rampaging through the house, we saw my uncles and the broker finalise the tenancy agreement. The spacious double-storey semi-detached house is new. Built on a land leased for 60 years three years back. It is in good condition and still situated along Rock Road - meaning not far from my other two Uncles.
The Day Coming to An End
When night came, I was relieved. I could not wait to get into bed. Been an exhausting day - mentally and physically. Did exactly that after talking with my Mom for a while.
