THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

- Robert Frost

How often have you taken the time to pause and reflect on your life? The mistakes you made. The successes you have seen. The failure you face. Have you questioned how life would be if you had just taken that extra step? Or what would it have been like if you missed that particular turn? I know I have - over and over again. Then the question pops up: is this worth all that?

Heading in a New Direction

Have you noticed anything new? Yeah, I incorporated the pages from Writing Success into Standing My Ground. Apparently my activity on Standing My Ground is more compared to my activity in Writing Success. Why not include the same materials?

You may be surprised by this admission: prior to this, I have not provided online copy services because of my fear of Search Engine Opimisation (SEO) copywriting. Despite the fuss, I find conflicting opinions on the subject. Some copywriters claim that SEO is dead - especially since the search engines, like Yahoo!, Google, etc., have stopped relying on the metatags or keywords.

It took a client to drill it into my head: I’ve been providing online copy services whether I realise it or not. I’ve been a content provider! Apparently content providers needn’t be well verse in SEO. To a degree, it is true. When you go to Shell’s website or even UiTM, you expect to see well arranged and updated content - not one with an absurd amount of keywords which somehow throws away the appeal of the website. I guess the SEO approach can be adopted by those having microsites and landing pages where searches becomes necessary.

So if you need a blog to be filled out, or a website that needs update (content-wise), feel free to contact me. My advantages? Try hypnotic writing. ;-)

Imagine your website getting more and more visits - not because of SEO - rather the cause: spiral marketing. How does spiral marketing work? It is the online equivalent of what we, in the off-line world, would call “word of mouth” marketing. Basically your ezine or website would be shared by visitors with their friends. They, in turn, do the same to their own friends. That’s how spiral marketing works. Simple, isn’t it?

When it comes to websites, it’s critical that organisations and corporations actually maintain it. Unless you update it, soon the information in it would be obsolete. If your business comes primarily from the internet, the obsolete content will damage your reputation.

Taking the Road Less Traveled By

Anyway, enough pondering and start acting. It’s time to make my move. I’m sure you’ll find more contents within the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

  1. Interesting, have read a few things about SEO being dead, but your analysis makes more sense then technical jabber I was reading!

Also that is one of my favourite Robert Frost Poems, the other being ‘Out, Out’

  2. Stephen,

Another advantage I have: speaking in terms of customers, not businesses.

    lol…

My activities in Politics UK have to be slowed down. Exams, work and all. Haih… Just as the game was getting good.
