Acer I Will Not Buy
My first laptop was an Acer and it got stolen. My second laptop is an Acer, I insisted on getting an Acer because it made such a god impression on me the first round. After some time, the monitor becomes problematic.
At first, I got a green pirate treasure map. The picture just froze before it became totally white.
As I type this entry, I’m trying to imagine what is being keyed in. The monitor is having an earthquake. It’s either i type with both hands - and complete my job faster or I type with one hand with the other holding on the scfreen.
Besides the monitor, the sound system is just terrible. Another reason it stays in my room.
Needless to say, I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ACER. Not only is the product below expectation, the customer service is just terrible. The next laptop I’m buying is Dell. Anything as long as it is NOT ACER. When I do get that new laptop, I’m donating my Acer as a football. Kick it about all you want. ![]()

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth. Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.- Robert Frost
How often have you taken the time to pause and reflect on your life? The mistakes you made. The successes you have seen. The failure you face. Have you questioned how life would be if you had just taken that extra step? Or what would it have been like if you missed that particular turn? I know I have - over and over again. Then the question pops up: is this worth all that?
Presentations… Legal Research and Re Webster
A day of presentations: one for Legal Research and Methodology (partnering with Azira Aziz a.k.a. Chibi-Chibister) while flying solo for Re Webster for Administration of Trusts. Yesterday’s presentation was on The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde. Hmm… What do I have for tomorrow? Just Cyber Law, if I’m not wrong.
The Headache…
The headache’s agonising… The cause? Lack of sleep and the absence of a fixed sleeping hours… Whoa… Talk about the number of words I need to describe this to you… Yes, it’s like there’s a construction site in the skull. 100 tiny workers drilling into the wall… scores of machine piling up the ground… Better get some rest. Have a very important presentation tomorrow at 9.45am. Being slow is a bad way to screw up a presentation… (I should stop with the hardware talks already.)

Education is a companion which no misfortune can depress,no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate, no despot can enslave. At home a friend, abroad an introduction, in solitude a solace, and in society an ornament. It chastens vice, it guides virtue, it gives, at once, grace and government to genius. Without it, what is man? A splendid slave, a reasoning savage.
~ Joseph Addison, 1672-1719, English Essayist [The Spectator 1711]
For your information, this coming week will be the final week for my 4th Semester. Meaning, I’m concluding my second year and will soon begin my final year of undergraduate studies. But should this be the end of my formal education? Where will I be going to after this?
Certainly I have made up my mind that I must proceed with a Master’s Degree. The question is in what field? Should I continue with a Master’s Degree in Law? Would it be wise to duplicate the road that my seniors have taken before me? Which is to do the professional programme LL.B. (Hons). Quo vadis, Aldric?
When the tide changes…

“Before, the Europeans were seen an invincible. They were so powerful, so superior and so intelligent. In fact, they promised us that as long as there were stars, the sun and the moon in the sky, they would be in Malaysia. But they lost the battle here to Japan, which shook our beliefs. The Europeans, we thought, would be defeated after all.”
- Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
As an Asian, I find that we have the tendency to not only admire, but also worship, those who are – supposedly – far more superior to us. At a more local level, I find that certain quarters not only expect but also demand that respect be given to them. Ironically, they got fear. Fear which does not equate to respect. Fear which would one day turn the tide against them. But does this mean we should not respect anymore? I cannot agree to that at all. I believe that your respect must be earned, not expected. Sadly many fail to grasp this despite preaching the same. But times are changing Read the rest of this entry »
Wills… I’m Liking this Topic!
This is starting to get out of hand… Hehehe…. Lately I’ve been writing too many entries in one day. As my cousin Atharina says, I probably have too much time on my hands. ;-) Yet I still have outstanding issues to address. Issues such as Bandar Puteri, the National Enterprise Board (Abolishment) Bill, the Privatisation Bill and all. Before you ask “The what …?” Better remind you that I’m the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry cum President of the Board of Trade in Politics UK.
Anyway, a topic which I never thought would capture my attention would be the Law of Succession. Mainly the topic revolves around the construction of wills, the elements of wills, gifts etc. This topic is part of our Administration of Trust course taken in the 4th Semester. As revision week starts, you can be sure I will actively contribute to the other blog. ![]()
Johnson Tan Han Seng v. Public Prosecutor [1977] 2 MLJ 66
This is a Constitutional Law case decided by the Federal Court referring to Article 150(3), Federal Constitution. You should know that Malaysia is still under a State of Emergency.
The issue have been raised in many constitutional law class - I believe. At least that’s what was implied to us when we took the Constitutional Law I class with Prof. Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi. On the Internet, one article by a John Lee (Keselamatan dan Kebebasan: Betulkah Kita Merdeka?) and a Wikipedia entry is available on the effect of the decision in Johnson Tan Han Seng.
